Energy


Indonesia is rich of energy resources from conventional oil and gas and coal to renewable source of energy. Indonesia has also been playing an important role in supplying energy resources such as coal internationally. Our law firm assists energy producers, developers, independent power producers and electric utilities pursue their interests in developing, producing, transporting, exporting and selling energy resources. Support that we provide ranges from preparing consortium and other similar agreements to assisting in tender process, permitting and approvals, and power purchase agreement.

We have represented energy companies, investors and others in participating in power generation projects held by the state owned company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara or PLN and in providing advice on relevant matters from structure of transactions through negotiation and completion. Our long involvement with electricity power producers both conventional and renewable sources has required us to understand all aspects of the industry from bidding process until securing the power purchase agreement with PLN. We have been involved in various high profiles electricity tender projects for PLN and played a prominent role in the process. 

Our firm also has a large and active land acquisition practice that has assisted clients in land settlements in some regions in Indonesia. We are able to advise with respect to local requirements in each of region and land claims submitted by locals as well as to work together with the National Land Agency (Badan Pertanahan Negara) or BPN.

The Indonesian government is encouraging the development of renewable energy to reflect its concern on emissions of greenhouse gases. Our energy specialists are also knowledgeable about recent legislative and policy changes in Indonesia, as well as key international initiatives such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and its Kyoto Protocol. We have advised and assisted clients in renewable energy particularly in biogas methane conversion to electricity in their effort to reduce carbon emissions of certain industrial waste.
